In its second year Napier Port Harbour to Hills aims to be a middle distance triathlon on everyone’s to do list.
The course has everything you would expect from Napier and Hawke’s Bay.
A challenging 2km Ocean swim, 95km undulating bike with stunning views and a flat 21km run along Napier’s Rotary Pathways.
Entry available for both individuals and teams.
This year we will see a new event at Napier Port Harbour to Hills. The Aquabike will consist of a 2km swim – 95km bike and will be open to individuals only.
This is a great opportunity for all those going to the Aquabike World Championships to get an event under their belt in race conditions
- 2018 Entry Details & Registration
Early Bird: - 7.00am Monday 3rd July until midnight 9th July. Individual $140 Team $270 (plus online booking fee of $1 + 5%)
Standard Entry: - 10th July until midnight 22nd December. Individual $180 Team $330 (plus online booking fee of $1 + 5%)
Late Entry: -23rd December until midnight 1st April. Individual $250 Team $360 (plus online booking fee of $1 + 5%)
*Entries received after the 31st January we can not guarantee you receive the right t-shirt size*
Please note only 500 individuals and 75 teams, once reached entries will close.
Teams can be either 2 or 3 person
Every finisher will receive:
A cider at the finish line
An amazing experience
Cut off times
Swim: 1 hour 10mins from your wave start and a further 10mins to reach bike mount line.
Bike: 5hrs 30mins from your wave start and a further 10mins to reach the run exit.
Run: 8hrs 30mins after your wave start the course will close.
These times will be strictly adhered to.

The organisers of the Napier Port Harbour to Hills wish to ensure that the race is fair to all competitors.
We will have trained technical officials at the event who will monitor the rules as outlined here
In this event, drafting is illegal and thus considered to be cheating. If the athlete receives a third penalty, they will be disqualified.
In this event, penalties will be served as a ‘Stand Down’ in the Penalty Compounds on course. Any athlete given a penalty is required to stand down at the next penalty box. Any athlete who does not stand down at the next official penalty box will be disqualified.
Drafting rules are outlined in the Tri NZ rules
Please make sure you understand this rule – if you have any questions please see the race director following the briefing. It is your responsibility as an athlete to know the rules.
In the end the responsibility for a race without major drafting issues lies in your hands as triathletes to compete fairly, honestly and within the both the rules and moral values of our sport.

The Napier Port Harbour to Hills will calculate your age group as of 31st December 2017 so some of you may move up an age group.

60 - 69 Legends 1
70+ Legends 2
Male, Female, Mixed
Prizes will be awarded to top 3 male & female in each category.

- Refund and Withdrawls
Individuals & Teams
There are no automatic refunds available. The organisers may, however, at their sole discretion grant a refund of fees paid if they deem it appropiate prior to 31st December 2017. In the event of a refund under this clause, the Organisers shall retain a $75 administration fee. NO REFUNDS AFTER THIS DATE
If the event has reached capacity the available slot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.

Team Member Changes
Team member changes are permitted up to 16 February providing one original member of the team remains. Contact the event organiser with any new details (team name, new name, age and shirt size and who they are replacing – shirt sizes are not guaranteed).
- Transfers & Waitlist
You are not permitted to transfer your entry to another person or another event.
If the event reaches capacity prior to the closing date a waitlist will become operational.
The waitlist is managed in a clear and transparent process. Waitlist entries are logged when they are submitted and as the race office receives withdrawal requests the next person on the waitlist is contacted and offered the slot.
Any entries found to be traded on public websites and forums will be deemed invalid and will NOT BE accepted by the race organiser. Private transfers are not permitted and will not be accepted. Athletes involved may be banned from any further participation in the event.
Health and Safety standards at this event are high and any athletes who are identified participating in the event under any other name than their own will be disqualified and both athletes may be banned from any further participation in the event.
Entry fees will not be refunded if the event is cancelled or if the format is altered due to storm, rain, sea conditions, weather or other “Acts of God.’

The Napier Port Harbour to Hills is an endurance triathlon and you will need to be at a certain level of fitness to complete the event within the cut off times.
There are plenty of options open to you from one on one coaching, advice from friends, the internet and local triathlon clubs.
There is no set plan that suits everyone as most people have different goals and time commitments. So we have a couple of options below.
